Arts Award Explore with Let’s Animate
 
Qualification: Level 1 (Entry Level/Level 1 on RQF), certificate from Trinity College London
Age: 7+
Guided Learning Hours: ~10–20 hours (workshops, group activities, tutor-led sessions)
Independent Hours: ~5–10 hours (creating own animation work, recording reflections)
Overview: Builds on Discover, encouraging independent thinking, exploration of artists’ work, and developing practical animation skills.
 
Arts Award Explore is a nationally recognised Level 1 qualification designed for young people aged 7 and above.
 
Delivered through Let’s Animate’s engaging animation workshops, it offers the perfect next step after Discover, supporting children to deepen their creativity, develop new skills, and begin to reflect on their artistic experiences.
 
As part of the Explore award, participants build on their interest in the arts by taking part in a range of hands-on animation activities.
 
They learn more about storytelling, character creation, and animation techniques while creating their own projects and recording their progress.
 
The award encourages children to think more independently about what inspires them and how they can develop their ideas.
 
During the programme, participants:
 
Create their own animation work and develop practical creative skills
Explore the work of artists and animators, sharing their thoughts and opinions
Take part in an arts event, experience, or activity and reflect on it
Share their artwork and creative journey with others
Record what they have learned in a personal arts log
 
Arts Award Explore is a portfolio-based qualification with no exams, making it accessible and supportive for a wide range of learners. On completion, participants receive an official Level 1 Arts Award qualification, accredited by Trinity College London, recognising their creativity, commitment, and growing understanding of the arts.
 
Our workshops encourage independence, imagination, and confidence, making them ideal for schools, youth groups, and community organisations looking to support young people in developing their creative voice through animation.

Arts Award runs alongside our other animation sessions, so to complete your award, you’ll need to book onto these workshops. This ensures you receive hands-on guidance, develop new skills, and enjoy the full creative experience while working towards your recognised qualification.
